The Power of Artificial Intelligence: Improving Breast Cancer Detection with iCAD at Beilinson Hospital

In Israel, AI Technology Transforms Breast Cancer Early Detection

The pilot program at Beilinson Hospital using iCAD’s Artificial Intelligence technologies has shown promising results in improving breast cancer detection. The technology was able to detect tumors that were previously undetected, significantly improving diagnostic capabilities and potentially saving lives by providing early detection of breast cancer in women over 40 years old. Additionally, the technology helps in creating personalized screening plans for individuals at risk of developing breast cancer.

Dr. Ahuva Grubstein, Head of Beilinson’s Mammography Department, emphasized the importance of early detection and intervention in treating breast cancer. She encouraged women and those at risk of cancer to undergo regular semi-annual mammography exams. By utilizing artificial intelligence tools to assist radiologists in these scans, the reliability of the scans can be increased, leading to more cases of early detection and potentially saving lives.

The technology’s ability to assess a patient’s risk level of developing a cancerous tumor in the next two years by scanning past dense tissue is one of its features. Since the completion of the pilot earlier this year, the system has been implemented across the Clalit Health Services network, including its mammography units in hospitals and clinics nationwide. iCAD’s program has already received approval from the FDA in the United States.

Overall, the implementation of iCAD’s Artificial Intelligence technologies has shown promising results in improving the accuracy and effectiveness of breast cancer detection at Beilinson Hospital.
