Exploring the Intersection of Music, Science, and Data with Jukebox in The Sound of Science

In Rutland, Roots Restaurant will host VSO Jukebox: The Sound of Science on Friday, April 12 at 7 p.m. This event will showcase compositions that are inspired by scientific principles. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore how different scientific concepts have been translated into music, including the translation of temperature data into musical notes and the sound of a glacier melting being used as the basis for a new musical work.

Music from various composers such as Mark Mellits, J.S. Bach, and Radiohead, among others, will be featured in this concert. There will also be a free workshop where participants can create music and sound out of their own data using an online tool developed by Kinetek. Tickets for the event can be purchased through The Paramount Theatre Box Office either in person or online.

Ticket prices range from $15 to $35 plus tax and fees, with seating being on a first come, first served basis. There will be no ticket sales available at Roots for this event. During the performances, bar service will be available at Roots Studio Space but food will not be served at the Studio Space. This event promises to be a unique experience that combines the worlds of music and science in a captivating way.
