Towson Swimmer Brian Benzing: A Triple Threat in the Pool and the Classroom

Towson’s Benzing Awarded Academic All-America Honors

Towson senior men’s swimmer Brian Benzing has recently been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America second team for his impressive academic and athletic achievements. With a grade point average of 3.76, Benzing is majoring in sports marketing and excelling in his studies.

Benzing’s accomplishments in the pool are equally impressive, earning him the CAA Men’s Swimmer of the Year award for the fourth consecutive season. At the NCAA Championship, he received All-America honors for his second-place finish in the 100 breaststroke, setting a CAA record with a time of 50.59. He also earned honorable mention All-American status in the 200 breaststroke, setting another CAA record with a time of 1:52.71 in the preliminaries and finishing 16th overall. Additionally, Benzing competed in the 200 IM at the NCAA’s, placing 23rd with a CAA-record time of 1:42.82.
