18 People Hospitalized and One Fatality After Meal

On May 6, a tragic incident occurred in Thai Binh province as reported by the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene. During a celebration party hosted by a family in group 5 of Hoang Dieu ward, Thai Binh city, 18 people fell ill with symptoms including fever, digestive issues, and abdominal pain. The party took place from May 1 to 2 and featured a variety of dishes such as roasted chicken, braised shrimp, melon and eggplant soup, and goat’s blood pudding.

The blood used in the pudding came from goats slaughtered in Ninh Binh and transported to Thai Binh. The stuffing for the pudding consisted of boiled pig ears, liver, and throat. Each tray had a large bowl of blood pudding for guests to enjoy as they pleased. The following afternoon and morning, the family continued to host feasts featuring dishes such as boiled chicken, fried shrimp, stewed pork leg, rare goat, and various other delicacies.
