Trump’s Loyal Financial Director Returned to Prison: A Look at the Stormy Daniels Trial and the Damage It Has Caused

Former Financial Director of Trump Organization Sentenced to Five Months for Perjury

On Wednesday, former Trump Organization financial director Allen Weisselberg returned to prison after serving a five-month sentence for perjury during a recent civil trial involving ex-boss Donald Trump. Weisselberg, a loyal supporter of Trump, had previously spent time behind bars for tax fraud in 2022. He pleaded guilty to perjury in March during the trial concerning overvaluations of Trump Organization real estate assets. Upon arriving at court, he was immediately taken into custody after being sentenced by a judge.

Weisselberg’s conviction comes just before the opening of the first criminal trial against Trump in New York courts. This trial is linked to payments made to Stormy Daniels, a former porn star who claimed to have had a sexual relationship with Trump in 2006. Trump is accused of concealing these payments by falsifying Trump Organization business records. If found guilty, he could face a prison sentence in the midst of his 2024 presidential campaign against Joe Biden.

During the civil trial, Weisselberg admitted to lying about the value of Trump’s real estate, specifically concerning Trump’s personal triplex in Trump Tower in New York. In addition to his own conviction, Weisselberg also helped incriminate others involved in the case by providing testimony that implicated them in financial fraud and other crimes. The evidence presented during this trial has already led to significant damage for both Weisselberg and his employer, Donald Trump.
