Turkish Defense Sector Booms with Baykar: Exports, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships

Security Company Provides Employees with Grant Equal to 18 Salaries

The defense industry is booming in Turkey, with Baykar being one of the leading companies in the country. Known for its innovative technology and strategic partnerships, Baykar has gained international recognition for its VP of Technology, Selcuk Beyrakter, who is married to Soumya, the daughter of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Baykar’s success can be attributed to its exports, which generate 83% of its revenue. In 2022, the company experienced a significant increase in revenues due to the Russia-Ukraine war, making it the export leader in the defense sector in 2023 with exports amounting to 1.8 billion dollars. Baykar exports UAVs to 33 countries, with the Beyrakter TB2 and Beyrakter Akinci being popular choices.

To celebrate its achievements and reward its employees, Baykar recently decided to provide grants equivalent to 18 salaries to those who have been with the company for more than six years or have served as managers for over two years. This decision was made to share profits with employees who have contributed significantly to the company’s success over the years. Despite ranking lower than Israeli defense companies in 2022 at number 76 globally, Baykar’s commitment to fostering a supportive work environment reflects its dedication to innovation and strategic partnerships that make it a key player in the global market.

Overall, Baykar’s success is a testament to Turkey’s thriving defense industry and highlights the importance of innovation and strategic partnerships in shaping global market trends.
