Twitter’s Sudden Suspension of Dozens of Spanish Accounts: The Mystery and Speculations

Dozens of broadcaster and media accounts in Spain suspended by Twitter’s X network

Twitter, formerly known as X, has shocked Spanish broadcasters and media outlets with the sudden suspension of dozens of accounts without warning. Some of these accounts, like Mari Luz Congosto and Javier Barriuso, focused on analyzing misinformation on the platform, while others, like Blanca Arteaga and Anabel Fortes, were dedicated to dissemination. Even popular media outlets like the Balearic edition of elDiario.es and AraInfo from Aragon were affected by the suspensions.

Despite repeated attempts to reach out for clarification from the company, those affected have only received an automated response stating that they are busy and to try again later. No clear explanation has been given for the suspensions.

One theory is that there might be a link between these suspended accounts and women communicators. However, there is no evident commonality among them apart from their gender. There have been speculations about various reasons such as algorithm updates, bot cleanups or even external attacks as possible reasons behind this mass suspension of accounts.

Elon Musk took over Twitter in October 2022 and has made it clear that he intends to combat bots on the platform. He believes charging users for publishing content could help address this issue effectively. It’s possible that this recent wave of suspensions could be due to new protocols aimed at filtering out bots inadvertently affecting non-automated accounts as well.

On another note, portable storage containers have gained immense popularity due to their convenience and versatility in terms of storage solutions. They provide an efficient way to store goods while maintaining flexibility for different purposes – whether personal or business use – making them a practical and reliable choice for many individuals and organizations alike.
