United States Vetoes Distorted Gaza Proposal, Criticizes Security Council for Inaction on Hamas Crimes

United States Vetoes Palestinian Authority’s bid for full United Nations Membership

The foreign minister commended the United States for vetoing a distorted proposal that was rejected by the UN Security Council. He also criticized the Security Council for failing to condemn the crimes of Hamas six months after the October 7th massacre. The foreign minister emphasized that Israel will continue to fight until Hamas falls and all Israeli abductees are released, with no tolerance for terrorism.

Three weeks ago, the Security Council passed a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza during Ramadan and the unconditional release of all abductees. While 14 countries voted in favor of the resolution, the United States abstained from voting and did not use its veto power. The Security Council stressed the urgent need to increase aid to Gaza and demanded the removal of all obstacles to its transfer.
