Unlocking the Secrets to Sustainable Agriculture: Insights from the Conservation Tillage & Technology Conference in Ohio

No-Till Dominates at Conservation Tillage & Technology Conference

In March, I was honored to attend the Conservation Tillage & Technology Conference in Ada, Ohio. Organized by No-Till Legend Randall Reeder and the Ohio No-Till Council, this annual event takes place on the campus of Ohio Northern University. This year’s conference featured a lineup of esteemed speakers that did not disappoint.

Among the highlights of the conference was a presentation by retired professor Warren Dick on the effects of climate change on soil carbon and soil health. Another standout moment was when no-till expert Barry Fisher emphasized the importance of managing for improved organic matter on farms, which resonated with the audience and sparked further discussion among attendees.

Alyssa Essman, an extension weed specialist at Ohio State University, also gave a key presentation on the role of cover crops in managing herbicide resistance in weeds. This is a growing problem for farmers across the country, and Essman’s insights provided valuable information for attendees.

Randall Reeder also discussed the history of the Conservation Tillage & Technology Conference and highlighted some of its key features for the year. Overall, this conference was an excellent experience for anyone interested in no-till farming and conservation practices.
