Upcoming Nintendo Direct to Showcase Software Lineup for Switch, New Console Announced for Next Year

The Switch 2 will be announced by Nintendo before April 2025

Nintendo has announced that it will be revealing its new game console, which will replace the Nintendo Switch, within this fiscal year. To showcase the upcoming games for the new console, a new Nintendo Direct event is set to take place in June.

The original Nintendo Switch was launched in 2015 and has been an incredibly popular choice among gamers worldwide. Since then, Nintendo has released various updates such as models with longer battery life, an OLED screen, and a portable-only version called the Switch Lite.

Nintendo’s president, Shuntaro Furukawa, confirmed that the next console will be announced before March 2025. This information was shared in a post on X (formerly Twitter) from the NintendoCoLtd account. The successor console will be unveiled no later than March of next year, marking over nine years since the original Nintendo Switch was announced.

Furthermore, Furukawa stated that the upcoming Nintendo Direct event in June will focus solely on the software lineup for the Nintendo Switch in the second half of 2024. No information regarding the successor console will be shared during this event. Fans can expect to hear about new games and updates coming to the platform later in the year.
