UPMC Health Plan is celebrating National Minority Health Month with a special podcast series that highlights important health initiatives and programs that prioritize minority communities. In our third episode, we had the privilege of speaking with Dr. Camille Clarke-Smith, the program director of quality improvement/Medicare/SNP STARs at UPMC Health Plan.

Dr. Clarke-Smith oversees the UPMC for Life Medicare Faith and Wellness Program, which focuses on promoting holistic health within faith-based organizations and among Medicare-enrolled members. This program addresses social determinants of health and cultural barriers by emphasizing the importance of physical, mental, and personal wellness.

Through her background as a health activist and wellness advocate, Dr. Clarke-Smith has implemented innovative approaches to community health. By engaging with faith-based organizations and incorporating spiritual and community elements into her program, she is able to support individuals in achieving overall well-being.
