Valley City State University Launches Coed Intercollegiate Competitive Trap Shooting Team in Fall 2024

VCSU Introduces New Shooting Sports Team

Competitive trap shooting will become an official coed intercollegiate sport at Valley City State University (VCSU) starting Fall 2024. This announcement was made by President Alan LaFave, who expressed his excitement about adding the sport to the university’s roster.

The decision to establish the Shooting Sports Team reflects VCSU’s commitment to providing diverse extracurricular opportunities for its students. Dr. Nick Galt, the team coach and professor, encouraged interested students to visit VCSU, tour the facilities, and learn about the team’s tuition assistance program.

The VCSU Trap Club, established in 2020, has already achieved success at the state level, with Kaden Schafer winning first place in Single Trap at the 2023 Fall Shootout. The team practices at OH Range in Valley City and has a history of competitive achievements.
