Verlon Johnson: Expert in Healthcare Policy Takes on Key Role as Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program Payment and Access Commission Chair

Verlon Johnson of Acentra Health appointed as Chair of Medicaid and CHIP Payment Access Commission

Verlon Johnson, a nationally recognized expert in government healthcare programs with nearly 30 years of service in public and private sector healthcare, has been appointed chair of the Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC) by the Government Accountability Office. In addition to her new role as MACPAC Chair, Johnson has also been reappointed to serve a second consecutive 3-year term as a MACPAC commissioner.

Johnson expressed deep humility and profound honor at being mentioned alongside the exceptional team of commissioners and staff, noting that collaborating with them to enhance Medicaid and CHIP programs is a privilege that fills her with pride. MACPAC is a non-partisan advisory committee established in 2009 to advise Congress, the Secretary of the Health and Human Services Department, and states on policy and access issues related to Medicaid and CHIP.

As CEO of Acentra Health, Todd Stottlemyer praised Johnson for her reappointment and selection as MACPAC Chair, highlighting her extensive experience in government healthcare programs.
