Virat Kohli Takes a Playful Jab at Coach Ravi Shastri in Commentary Session Ahead of T20 Match

Virat Kohli responds to Ravi Shastri’s comments on his place in India’s T20 WC squad: Despite being seen as a brand ambassador, I still have the skills | Cricket News

Virat Kohli took a playful jab at his former coach Ravi Shastri during a commentary session for the Gujarat Titans vs Mumbai Indians match. Kohli jokingly stated that his name is now synonymous with promoting T20 cricket globally and that he still has what it takes, following his impressive 77-run innings against Punjab Kings, for which he was awarded player of the match.

During the match, Kevin Pietersen suggested that the T20 World Cup in the USA could benefit from someone like Kohli to help grow the game on a global scale. In response, Shastri emphasized the importance of winning the competition rather than focusing solely on growth, citing the success of the youthful Indian squad that won the 2007 T20 World Cup.

Kohli’s impactful innings in the match against Punjab Kings played a significant role in RCB’s 4-wicket victory in front of an enthusiastic Chinnaswamy crowd. His knock of 77 runs, featuring 11 fours and 2 sixes, strengthened his case for selection in the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in June. Despite being dismissed while attempting another big shot, Kohli demonstrated his capabilities on the field.
