This week, the Courier Journal has announced its nominees for girls athlete of the week. These standout athletes had impressive performances on softball diamonds and lacrosse fields. Voting is now open and will close at 6 p.m. on Thursday, with the winner being announced on Friday. One of the nominees is Aubrey Batts from Oldham County, who had a phenomenal week with four hits, including two home runs, seven RBIs, and one stolen base in victories against Assumption, Eastern, and Great Crossing. Another outstanding performer is Kadie Bosemer from North Oldham, who had three hits, including two home runs, and four RBIs in wins over South Oldham, Trimble County, and Simon Kenton.

In lacrosse, senior Bree Emerson from Christian Academy scored seven goals and picked up one groundball in a win over North Oldham. Caillin Heintz, a junior from Mercy also had an exceptional performance with four goals and three assists in a 13-7 win over Atherton.
