WASD Science Olympiad Team Shines at State Tournament with 13 Medals

Waynesboro Science Olympiad’s State Tournament Champions celebrated with congratulations!

On Saturday, April 27th, the WASD Division B Science Olympiad team had an impressive showing at the State Tournament held at Penn State Altoona. The team, which had qualified at the Central Regional Tournament, went on to compete against 35 other school districts that had also won in their respective regional tournaments.

Despite a total of 73 districts participating in the event, the WASD team emerged victorious by winning a remarkable 13 medals. This was a significant improvement from previous state appearances where they had won a total of just five medals.

The highlight of the day was when Caiden Shacreaw and Tyler Rooney took home first place and became state champions in the Crime Busters event. Additionally, several students managed to win two medals each on that day.

In terms of specific events, the WASD team excelled in several areas:

1st Place/State Champions – Crime Busters – Caiden Shacreaw, Tyler Rooney

4th Place – Wind Power – Chase Noyer, Ava Moatz

4th Place – Write it, Do It – Maycie Bitner, Brenna Hollingsworth

5th Place – Ecology – Izzy Bupp, Will Stein

7th Place – Anatomy and Physiology (Cardiovascular, Lymphatic, and Excretory Systems) – Maycie Bitner, Brenna Hollingsworth

7th Place – Codebusters – Caiden Shacreaw, Tyler Rooney, Izzy Bupp
