West Virginia Set to Take on Pacific in Quarterfinals of 2024 UTR Sports NIT Championship

West Virginia University’s tennis team is set to compete in the quarterfinal round of the 2024 UTR Sports NIT Championship against Pacific. The match will take place on Monday, May 6 at 4:30 p.m. at the IMG Academy Tennis Courts in Bradenton, Florida. The game will be broadcast on Prime Video and the final results will be available on WVUsports.com.

This marks the first meeting between West Virginia (14-12, 3-10 Big 12) and Pacific. The winner of this match will move on to face the winner of the Tulsa/Wyoming match in the semifinals on Tuesday, May 7.

West Virginia’s tennis team has had a successful season so far, with senior Momoko Nagato leading in singles play, followed by redshirt sophomore Maja Dodik and junior Tatiana Lipatova. In doubles play, the pairings of Nagato and junior Michaela Kucharova as well as graduate student Ting-Pei Chang and Lipatova have been successful. This marks West Virginia’s first postseason tournament appearance in program history.

The Mountaineers finished their regular season with 14 wins, marking their first winning season since 2010 and their most Big 12 wins in a single season since joining the conference in 2013.
