Women’s Record Broken at London Marathon; Men’s Race Produces Thrilling Surprise Winner

Jepchirchir dominates women’s-only world record during victorious London Marathon

On Sunday, the 44th London Marathon was held, and it produced some incredible results in both the men’s and women’s races. Peres Jepchirchir emerged as the winner of the women’s race, breaking the women-only world record with a time of 2 hours, 16 minutes, and 16 seconds. This victory marks her second consecutive win in this event after she won the Olympic gold medal in 2016.

On the other hand, Alexander Mutiso Munyao claimed victory in the men’s race with a time of 2:04:01. This win was an impressive feat considering that he overtook distance running legend Kenenisa Bekele, who finished second with a time of 2:04:15. Emile Cairess of Britain secured third place with a time of 2:06:46.

In addition to these impressive results, the marathon events also showcased some remarkable performances from athletes around the world. Tigst Assefa of Ethiopia came in second place in the women’s race with a time of 2:16:23 while Joyciline Jepkosgei finished third with a time of 2:16:24. Marcel Hug and Catherine Debrunner from Switzerland won the men’s and women’s wheelchair races respectively.
