WWE Backlash Confirms First Title Match: Damian Priest Defending World Heavyweight Title Against Jey Uso

WWE Backlash to feature World Heavyweight Championship Match

WWE Backlash has confirmed its first title match, as World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest announced on the April 15 episode of RAW that he will be defending his title against Jey Uso. The challenger earned his spot by defeating Drew McIntyre, Ricochet, and Bronson Reed in a four-way match on the same episode of RAW. CM Punk’s interference in the match cost McIntyre the victory and directly led to Uso’s win.

Meanwhile, Cody Rhodes is also set to defend his title at Backlash. The challenger for Rhodes will be determined on the April 19 episode of WWE SmackDown, where LA Knight will face AJ Styles.

Priest won the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40 by cashing in his Money in the Bank contract on Drew McIntyre, who had just dethroned Seth Rollins. McIntyre was attacked by CM Punk, allowing Priest to capitalize and leave with the title.
