Xi Jinping Urges Mutual Respect and Cooperation between China and the US in Bilateral Relationship

Xi Jinping urges Antony Blinken to uphold US commitments and address existing issues

During a meeting in Beijing, Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of mutual respect and cooperation between China and the US. He highlighted the need for both countries to be true to their words in order to address unresolved issues in their bilateral relationship. Despite recent progress made, Xi acknowledged that there are still many challenges that need to be addressed.

Xi also expressed hope for a positive vision of China’s development from the US, while calling for a confident, open, prosperous, and developing United States. The Chinese president referenced his meeting with President Joe Biden in San Francisco last November and the progress made since then. However, he also acknowledged that there are still issues to be resolved.

In addition, the meeting between Blinken and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi highlighted concerns about negative factors affecting their relationship. The US Senate’s recent bill regarding TikTok further complicated matters, as ByteDance has no intention of selling the application and plans to challenge the law in court. Despite this legislation, Xi emphasized the importance of dialogue and managing differences in order to move towards a more stable and prosperous future.
