The municipality of Solidaridad in Playa del Carmen has successfully utilized modernized license plate identification technology to recover a stolen pickup truck and apprehend the female driver responsible for its theft. The Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC) reported that surveillance cameras with license plate identification technology were used to track down the Ford brand Lobo model truck, which had been flagged by the system after being intercepted by Traffic Police in the Ejido neighborhood.
Upon checking the system, officers confirmed that the license plates were overlapped and the vehicle had a theft report on it. The driver, Maribel “N”, was secured by the Municipal Police of Solidaridad and handed over to the State Attorney General’s Office for legal responsibilities. The use of advanced surveillance technology allowed for the successful recovery of the stolen vehicle and the arrest of the individual responsible for driving it.
