Al Maktoum International Airport: A $35 Billion Gateway to Dubai’s Future as a Global Aviation Hub

Dubai’s leader reveals plans for building the largest airport terminal in the world | Updates on Aviation

Dubai’s Prime Minister and Vice President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has announced the construction of a $35 billion airport terminal that will be five times the size of the current Dubai International Airport. The new terminal, which is set to become one of the world’s largest airports upon completion, will handle up to 260 million passengers annually and attract leading companies in logistics and air transport.

The expansion and development of Al Maktoum International Airport is part of a larger project in Dubai South, where a city will be built around the airport. This ambitious project is aimed at ensuring continuous and stable development for future generations in Dubai.

The CEO of Dubai Airports, Paul Griffiths, expressed confidence that the development of Al Maktoum International Airport will solidify Dubai’s position as a top aviation hub. The new airport, which opened in 2010, will be the new home of flagship carrier Emirates and feature five parallel runways and 400 aircraft gates.

Dubai International Airport has been the busiest airport for international travel for a decade, with record-breaking numbers of passengers in recent years. With the continuous growth of Dubai, the new airport project is seen as a significant step in enhancing the city’s aviation infrastructure and bolstering its status as a global center for aviation.
