Audi’s Decision to Terminate Temporary Contracts: Uncertainty and Concerns for Brussels Workers

Audi Brussels supplier facing potential job cuts for 76 employees

The Christian union has criticized Audi’s decision to terminate temporary employment contracts with supplier Imperial Logistics without any form of social consultation. This move will affect 76 temporary workers at the Audi Brussels car factory, in addition to the 371 temporary workers at the automaker from Forest who are also losing their jobs.

The announcement in February that the new generation of the Q8 e-tron will no longer be produced at the Vorst factory from 2027 has further exacerbated the situation, prompting Audi to look for solutions for the Brussels factory. The impact of this decision has raised concerns among workers and the Christian union, as it reflects the challenges facing the automotive industry in the region.

Audi’s search for solutions following this announcement underscores the need for a coordinated approach to address the changing dynamics of the industry. The absence of social consultation in this decision has further exacerbated uncertainty surrounding the future of the Brussels factory.
