BayCare Announces Plans for First Hospital in Manatee County

BayCare Health System has announced plans to construct a new $548 million hospital in Manatee County. This 154-bed facility, located on Moccasin Wallow Road, will provide easy access to residents in southern Pinellas County. The hospital, named BayCare Hospital Manatee, will offer a wide range of services including emergency care, orthopedic and specialty surgery, urology, gastroenterology, cardiology, obstetrics, and neonatology.

In addition to the hospital services, a 45,000-square-foot building for outpatient services and physician offices will also be housed on the campus. Construction is set to begin in October with the goal of providing high-quality and compassionate care to the community. This new hospital will be BayCare’s 17th hospital and marks its commitment to meeting the healthcare needs of growing communities in West Central Florida.

BayCare Hospital Manatee will be the first nonprofit hospital built in Manatee County north of the Manatee River. While other hospitals in the county are owned by for-profit organizations such as Universal Health Services and HCA Health Care, BayCare Hospital Manatee will be a welcome addition to the area. This expansion into Manatee County reflects BayCare’s dedication to serving evolving healthcare needs of Tampa Bay region.
