Lukashenko disputes Putin’s claim and states terrorists are seeking refuge in Belarus

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his government continue to insist that Ukraine and the West are behind the terrorist attack in Moscow last Friday, which resulted in 139 deaths and was claimed by the Islamic State. The head of the FSB, Alexander Bortnikov, has accused Ukrainian and Western secret services of facilitating the attack. Unexpectedly, the president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, challenged Russia’s narrative by stating that the attackers initially tried to flee to Belarus, not Ukraine. This revelation casts doubt on Russia’s claims that Ukraine provided a “window” for the attackers to cross the border.
