Biden Authorizes Delivery of High-Powered Missiles to Ukraine to Counter Russian Invasion

New long-range missiles from United States sent to Ukraine in secret

In mid-February, US President Joe Biden approved the delivery of over 100 long-range missiles to Ukraine. These missiles, part of the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS), were kept secret to prevent Russian troops from preparing for attacks from greater distances.

The new missiles have a range of 300 kilometers, significantly longer than the previous missiles provided to Ukraine. This allows the Ukrainians to target areas further into occupied territory, including Crimea, where Russian troops and supplies are present.

According to a report by The New York Times, last week, the United States secretly delivered these new long-range missiles to Ukraine. The Ukrainian army used them in attacks on their Russian opponents earlier in the week. The social media images showed ammunition supplies still on fire hours after the attack on Tuesday in Berdiansk and Wednesday in Dzhankoi, Crimea.
