BMW Group and Rimac Technology Announce Partnership to Develop High-Voltage Battery Technology for Selected Electric Vehicles

BMW Group and Rimac Technology Form Long-Term Strategic Partnership.

BMW Group and Rimac Technology, both headquartered near Zagreb, Croatia, have announced a long-term partnership to co-develop and co-produce innovative solutions in the field of high-voltage battery technology for selected battery-electric vehicles. The collaboration brings together complementary strengths and expertise from both companies.

The BMW Group aims to further solidify its leading position in the premium electric mobility sector through this electrification strategy. By 2030, it is expected that more than half of global vehicle sales will be battery-electric vehicles, and the BMW Group’s extensive experience in battery and electric drive systems will be instrumental in achieving this goal.

Rimac Technology, as a part of the Rimac Group, is a Tier 1 supplier specializing in electrification in the automotive sector. Their portfolio includes high-voltage battery packs, e-axles, electronics, and software solutions. These products are designed, engineered, and produced in-house to offer advanced technology with a high degree of customization. The long-term partnership with the BMW Group marks a transition for Rimac Technology from a niche high-performance solutions provider to a high-volume Tier 1 supplier. With the growth of their business, including the opening of the Rimac Campus, Rimac Technology is poised to deliver projects at the highest automotive standards.

The specific nature and scope of the partnership between the two companies will be released at a later stage. Additionally, the BMW Group is preparing to launch the sixth generation of BMW eDrive technology, which will bring significant advancements in customer-relevant attributes such as range and charging time. This new technology will further enhance the overall performance of battery-electric vehicles and contribute to the advancement of electric mobility.
