Boise Veterans Encouraged to Attend Town Hall on Mental Health Support through COMPACT Act

Boise VA hosting town hall for Veterans to learn about mental health services under COMPACT Act

Boise veterans seeking to learn more about the COMPACT Act and the mental health services it offers are encouraged to attend a town hall event on April 17. The town hall will take place from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Boise VA Medical Center, specifically in the Learning Resource Center located in Building 29 on the VA campus. Veterans who are unable to attend in person can participate virtually through an online link or call in (audio only) at 1-205-235-3524 using the phone conference ID number 853 052 710#.

The COMPACT Act, which was enacted in 2023, provides immediate care and assistance to veterans experiencing a mental health crisis at no cost to them. Any veteran, regardless of their enrollment status with the VA, can seek help at a VA or non-VA emergency room for urgent suicidal care.

Under this act, the VA will either provide the necessary treatment or cover the expenses for treatments such as transportation, inpatient or crisis residential care for a period of up to 30 days, and outpatient care for up to 90 days. This act aims to ensure that veterans have access to timely and effective mental health care when they need it most.

The town hall event aims to inform veterans about the resources available to them through the COMPACT Act and how it can support those struggling with mental health issues. It provides a platform for veterans to ask questions, seek clarification, and understand the assistance they can receive in times of need.

By attending this event, veterans can gain valuable knowledge about the mental health services covered under the COMPACT Act and how they can access these services when required. They will also have an opportunity to connect with other veterans who may be facing similar challenges and learn from their experiences.

Overall, this town hall event is an important resource for veterans seeking support for their mental health needs. It is a chance for them to learn about their rights under the law and connect with others who may be able to offer guidance or advice.
