Breaking Barriers: The Beehive Bash Showcases Utah’s Women’s Sports Programs

Utah Women’s Sports Showcase: Beehive Bash set for April 13

The inaugural Beehive Bash is set to take place at Highland High School over the weekend, marking the first time a day has been dedicated to highlighting Utah’s women’s sports programs. Six local teams will gather to showcase the diverse range of sports offered in Utah for women and nonbinary individuals, including rugby, ultimate frisbee, and football.

Among the teams participating are the Salt City Slugs, Boulder Babes, and Utah Vipers, local rugby teams competing in Division 1 and 2 of USA Club Women’s Rugby. Provo Peaks rugby team and BYU’s extramural squad will also be taking part. The Utah Wild will be demonstrating ultimate frisbee skills, while the Utah Falconz will be playing football.

The event aims to raise awareness about the opportunities available for women in sports in Utah and promote the She Plays Here proposal, which calls for transforming the stadium area occupied by the Salt Lake Bees into a sports complex exclusively for professional and semi-professional women’s sports in Utah.

Tickets can be purchased online through the Utah Falconz or Utah Wild websites for $20 or at the gate for $25. Season ticket holders for the Falconz and Wild, as well as children under 12, will be admitted for free. The teams participating in the event are excited to come together and showcase their skills on the same field, highlighting the strength and determination of women athletes in Utah.

The schedule includes rugby matches between local teams, ultimate frisbee featuring the Utah Wild against Seattle Tempest, and football with Utah Falconz facing off against San Diego Rebellion. This promises to be a day full of competitive sports and camaraderie among women athletes in Beehive State!
