Brewers Pitcher Jakob Junis Injured in Fielding Practice Accident, Medical Attention Granted

Jakob Junis, Brewers pitcher, taken to hospital after ball strike to neck during batting practice

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jakob Junis is currently receiving medical attention at a local hospital in Pittsburgh after being struck by a ball during batting practice. The incident occurred while Junis was jogging in the outfield at PNC Park during the Pirates’ batting practice, causing him to be rushed off the field in an ambulance.

The Brewers announced that Junis is alert, conscious, and responsive at the hospital, but the extent of his injury is still unknown. Junis, a 31-year-old pitcher, signed with the Brewers on a one-year, $7 million deal this past offseason after spending time with the Kansas City Royals and San Francisco Giants.

Junis has made one start this season with a 2.25 ERA, and the incident occurred prior to the Brewers’ game against the Pirates in Pittsburgh. The Brewers have been performing well so far this season, holding a 14-6 record and entering the series on a four-game winning streak after sweeping the St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend.
