Bucks face tough decision as Thanasis Antetokounmpo undergoes surgery for torn Achilles tendon

Bucks player Thanasis Antetokounmpo to have surgery on torn Achilles tendon

Thanasis Antetokounmpo, the brother of Giannis Antetokounmpo and a teammate of the NBA star, is set to undergo surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon. The injury occurred during a workout this week, despite Antetokounmpo playing in the Bucks’ final playoff game where he was unharmed. Unfortunately, this injury will prevent him from participating with the Greek national team this summer as they aim to secure an Olympic spot.

Last summer, Thanasis Antetokounmpo took on a bigger role with Giannis not playing for the Greek team. However, due to his injury, he is expected to miss most, if not all, of the upcoming NBA season as well. At 31 years old and having been a part of the Bucks for five years, playing 34 games this season, Antetokounmpo was likely to continue signing one-year contracts with the team. However, with the uncertainty surrounding his ability to play for a year, the Bucks face a dilemma.
