C.J. Stroud Impressed by the Receivers’ Room of the Houston Texans

C.J. Stroud believes John Metchie has the potential to be exceptional

Nico Collins and Tank Dell are among the talented receivers that C.J. Stroud, a journalist, was impressed with when he learned about the trade that brought Stefon Diggs to the Texans on April 3. After being caught off guard by the news, Stroud quickly realized that he had an exciting new addition to an already impressive group of offensive weapons. Along with Diggs, Collins, Dell, Robert Woods, and Noah Brown are all in the receivers room for the Texans.

However, it wasn’t just these well-known names that caught Stroud’s attention. He also noticed John Metchie, a second-round pick in 2022 who had been overshadowed due to a leukemia diagnosis during his rookie season. Despite facing challenges in his past health-wise, Stroud believes that Metchie should not be overlooked. In fact, after missing his rookie season while undergoing cancer treatments and dealing with a torn ACL, Metchie entered last season with a hamstring injury but is now fully healthy and ready to make an impact on the field once again.

During the previous season, Metchie played 310 offensive snaps in 16 games and caught 16 passes for 158 yards. His mindset and work ethic have impressed Stroud both as a football player and as a person. He is confident that Metchie has what it takes to shine on the field and contribute to the team’s success. When asked about his thoughts on Metchie’s place in the Texans’ receiving room alongside other talented players such as Diggs and Collins, Stroud couldn’t help but emphasize how much he admires their camaraderie and talent level together.

Overall, Stroud is excited about what this new group of receivers could do together for the Texans next season. With Diggs leading the charge as one of their top offensive weapons alongside Collins and Dell as well as Brown and Woodson providing depth at different positions on offense; he believes they have everything needed to succeed in their respective roles.

In summary, CJ Stroud praises John Metchie’s mindset and work ethic after missing his rookie season due to health challenges. He believes that Metchie’s past struggles should not define him or hold him back from shining on the field again this upcoming season with a healthy body fully ready for action
