Collaborating for Growth: Milwaukee World Festival Seeks New Programming and Enhancements for Its Festival Grounds

Milwaukee World Festival considering new ways to utilize Summerfest grounds

The Milwaukee World Festival, a nonprofit organization that oversees Henry Maier Festival Park and hosts Summerfest, has issued a request for proposals (RFP) to explore new programming and enhancements for the park’s festival grounds. The RFP aims to develop a master use plan that will increase public use of the park while still accommodating Summerfest and the various ethnic and cultural festivals held there each year.

Since 2003, the park has seen significant investment in capital improvements, totaling more than $160 million. The organization is seeking to deepen its partnership with the city and align its goals with Milwaukee’s vision for growth and development. In 2023, over 1.2 million guests visited the park through various events including Summerfest, cultural festivals, concerts, and non-profit activities.

Milwaukee World Festival emphasizes its commitment to its nonprofit mission of showcasing performing arts, promoting ethnic heritage and cultural traditions, offering recreational opportunities for the public, and creating employment opportunities. With a focus on collaboration and innovation, the organization is eager to explore new possibilities for the future of the festival grounds and their role in Milwaukee’s cultural landscape.
