The Allen Parish Community Health Fair at the Grand Church in Kinder was an exciting event that featured a variety of informative booths, health screenings, and fun activities. Gene Ingram, perioperative services director for Allen Parish Community Healthcare, played a giant operation game during the event. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about their health and community resources available in Allen Parish.

One of the highlights of the fair was when Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana Chairman Jonathan Cernek served Richard Stokes of Kinder a traditional Coushatta dish of chawahka (corn soup). Health care professionals such as Ashlyn Fontonet and Brianna England, population health nurses for Allen Parish Community Healthcare, provided attendees with vaccination information. The pair were dressed in 80s-themed attire, adding to the festive atmosphere of the health and wellness fair.

Amber Ashworth, Southwest Louisiana Regional Safety Coalition Coordinator, discussed safe driving tips with Brenda Johnson of Kinder at the health fair. More than 30 vendors were present to offer information, health screenings, promotional items, and more. Phlebotomist Devan Fruge of Allen Parish Community Healthcare conducted bloodwork to screen Phyllis Lawrence of Kinder for diabetes and prediabetes during the event. The Health Fair aimed to promote wellness, healthy living, and community resources for residents of Allen Parish.

Overall, the Allen Parish Community Health Fair was a great success that brought together healthcare professionals and community members to learn about their health and wellness options. The event’s theme added a fun touch to it while also providing important information that could help people live healthier lives.
