Creating a Psychologically Safe Workplace: A Practical Guide for Leaders

Leader’s Inclusive Power: Understanding the Science of Belonging as Presented by D CEO

Psychological safety is a crucial aspect of diverse and inclusive workplaces, with research showing that leaders play a vital role in promoting it. This was highlighted in a 2017 study by Harvard Business Review and Google, which identified psychological safety as a key factor in the success of high-performing teams. In fact, up to a 70 percentage point difference in employees’ sense of belonging and psychological safety can be attributed to leadership actions.

This panel discussion will delve deeper into the science of psychological safety in the workplace and provide practical steps that every leader can take to create a more inclusive and high-performing culture today. The panelists, Dr. Janet Ahn, Chief Behavioral Science Officer at MindGym, and Nate Bennett, Senior Vice President Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer at Comerica Bank, will share their insights on the business case for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives and how leaders can measure the impact of these efforts. They will also discuss metrics that can be used to track progress towards creating a psychologically safe workplace.

The event will take place on Wednesday, May 15 from 9 to 11 am at the Communities Foundation of Texas in Dallas. Attendees will enjoy a complimentary networking breakfast from 9 to 9:30 am before the panel discussion begins at 9:30 am. Following the discussion, there will be an audience Q&A session at 10:30 am.
