CTI Acquires Assymetric Technologies for New Capabilities in Defense and National Security Sector

Chesapeake Technology acquires a company specializing in communication and autonomy products

Assymetric Technologies, a company that specializes in products used in edge communications and flight autonomy programs within the defense and national security sector, has recently been acquired by Chesapeake Technology International (CTI). The acquisition is part of CTI’s strategy to expand its portfolio of capabilities in technology transition and system interoperability. While the terms of the deal were not disclosed, Assymetric Technologies has been in operation since 2011, focusing on open source software, flight control, and waveform technology. Their IronClad and Whisper systems will now be integrated into CTI’s existing offerings for military unmanned systems.

CEO Jay Moorman expressed excitement about the acquisition, stating that it will enhance CTI’s ability to provide comprehensive software and purpose-built hardware solutions to customers. This move underscores the company’s commitment to investing in its business to meet the evolving needs of national security requirements. CTI is supported by Bluestone Investment Partners, which acquired a majority stake in the defense technology integrator in 2021. Bluestone Investment Partners also facilitated CTI’s purchase of Rapid Imaging Technologies, further expanding their capabilities in the defense sector.

Assymetric Technologies was founded with a mission to develop innovative products that improve edge communications and flight autonomy programs for national security applications. Their IronClad system is designed to provide secure communication channels between ground-based command centers and unmanned vehicles operating at remote locations. The Whisper system uses advanced algorithms to process complex data streams from multiple sensors onboard an unmanned vehicle, enabling operators to make informed decisions quickly.

CTI’s acquisition of Assymetric Technologies adds new capabilities to their existing portfolio of products for military unmanned systems. By integrating Assymetric’s IronClad and Whisper systems into their offerings, they can provide customers with end-to-end solutions that include both hardware and software components.

The acquisition also highlights CTI’s continued commitment to investing in its business to meet the evolving needs of national security requirements. With support from Bluestone Investment Partners, they have expanded their capabilities across multiple sectors including defense technologies.

“This acquisition represents a significant step forward for our business,” said Jay Moorman CEO of Chesapeake Technology International “We are excited about the new capabilities we will be able to offer our customers as a result of this investment.”
