Diego’s Shuts Down: Beloved Restaurant and Bar Moves to Food Truck Operation Amid Pandemic Challenges

Kingston Eatery Shutting its Doors After Decade of Service

After ten years of operation, Diego’s, a beloved taco restaurant and bar in Uptown Kingston, has officially shut down. The establishment’s owner, Isaac Cruz, announced the closure on Instagram citing challenges posed by pandemic-era lockdowns and rising costs as the reasons behind the decision.

Despite their best efforts to recover from the pandemic’s blow, increasing costs and overhead expenses ultimately forced them to make the difficult decision to close their doors. However, Diego’s spirit will live on through its transition to a food truck or trailer.

Cruz made an announcement on Instagram that encouraged loyal customers to follow them for updates on future events where they would be vending. He also made a plea for support as they worked to sustain the business as a mobile food vending operation. He emphasized the importance of community backing in keeping Diego’s legacy going.
