Doctor Nguyen Van Giap and Wife Provide Emergency Medical Care to Accident Victims at Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Office

A couple of doctors saved 24 people from a car accident in Kon Tum

Dr. Nguyen Van Giap and his wife were on a motorbike when they came across a group of Ho Chi Minh City Market Management officials who had been in a traffic accident. Without hesitation, the couple stopped and rushed to the scene to help the more than 20 injured people.

Dr. Giap, a 35-year-old doctor, couldn’t even take off his helmet before he was shouting, “I’m a doctor, I’m a doctor,” as he dove into the chaos of the accident. His wife, Dr. Luong Hai Yen, who was 33 years old, immediately sprang into action, using a small knife and towels to provide first aid to the injured.

The accident had taken place in Dak To Re commune in Kon Ray district, Kon Tum province, involving a passenger car carrying Market Management officials and a tractor-trailer. Amid the chaos and groans of the injured, Dr. Giap and Dr. Yen were the first medical personnel to arrive at the scene.

Dr. Giap and Dr. Yen worked tirelessly to assess the victims, provide first aid, and coordinate efforts to help as many people as possible. They used whatever tools they had on hand, including a knife to cut clothing for bandages and filtered water to clean wounds. Despite
