Owosso edges out nearby Corunna in soccer

In a 1-0 soccer victory over neighboring Corunna, Owosso’s Izzey Jameson and Adeline Mahoney made a total of eight saves. The lone goal was scored by Liz McCroan with an assist from Kara Yerrick, and Owosso returned five shots on Corunna.

In another soccer match, Flushing won 3-0 against Linden with goals scored by Alexis Woodbeck, Kayla Rousseau, and Sam Youmans. Karsyn Farnsworth made nine saves for Flushing to secure the shutout.

In a baseball game, Powers Catholic defeated Goodrich 10-3, with winning pitcher Isaac Sturgess allowing no hits in five innings and striking out five. Connor Kelly led the Chargers with three hits, including a three-run homer, while Fischer Henderson knocked in two runs. Grand Blanc also won 3-0 against Saginaw Heritage, with Chris Worley and Kaiden Pollack combining for nine strikeouts in six innings.

Croswell-Lexington claimed a 6-2 victory over Imlay City in another baseball game. In golf, Holly topped Owosso with Owen Feldspaugh shooting 4-over-par 40 to lead Owosso. Flushing also had success in golf, winning 147-206 against Kearsley with A.J. Gasper shooting 35 to lead the team.
