Driving Economic Growth: Carbon and Emery Counties’ BEAR Business Expansion and Retention Initiative

Focus on Local Business Development by Castle Country Business Expansion and Retention (BEAR)

Carbon and Emery counties are home to a thriving business community that is constantly evolving. To ensure the continued success of these businesses, the Castle Country Business Expansion and Retention (BEAR) initiative was established. This volunteer group is led by Shanny Wilson, the Carbon County Economic Development & Tourism Director, and aims to support local businesses in the region.

The goal of BEAR is to promote job creation and enhance overall prosperity in the communities of Carbon and Emery counties. They achieve this by providing information and fostering growth within the local business community.

One way that BEAR achieves this is through their monthly General Meetings held on the fourth Thursday of every month from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at Utah State University Eastern in the Student Center Alumni Room (451 E. 400 N. in Price). These meetings serve as a platform for networking, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing among local businesses, community members, leaders, and economic development stakeholders.

At the next meeting on April 25th, Brock Johansen CEO of Emery Telcom will discuss collaborative efforts with other communities in the region to build a sustainable economy for Carbon/Emery Economic Development group . They will share resources and provide guidance on how to support local businesses in achieving their full potential.

If you are interested in learning more about how you can get involved with BEAR or attend one of their meetings, please contact Nick Tatton, Price City Community Director at communitydirector@priceutah.net .
