Economic Scavenger Hunt at Artesia High School: Preparing Students for Future Careers through Real-World Exploration

Artesia High School seniors explore the driving forces behind Artesia’s economy

Last week, a group of seniors from Artesia High School participated in the Sixth Annual Economic Scavenger Hunt, organized by the school’s economics teachers. The event took place at The Derrick Floor and provided students with an opportunity to spend the day in the downtown district exploring local businesses that drive the economy.

The hands-on experience allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of the impact of various industries and discover potential interests for their future careers. During the scavenger hunt, seniors Ryan Thomas, Mia Aragon, Kaylah Madrid, and Zoey Kiser took a break to pose for a photo outside the Daily Press. This moment not only offered a fun respite from the activity but also captured memories of their day. Both photos were taken by Daily Press photographers Brienne Green and Latisha Romine, showcasing the students’ excitement and engagement throughout the event.

The economic scavenger hunt at Artesia High School is an excellent example of how education can be paired with real-world exploration to prepare students for future endeavors in the workforce. Through this valuable experience, they gained firsthand knowledge about how businesses operate and how they contribute to local economies. By participating in this unique activity, seniors were able to explore their interests and gain insights into what it takes to succeed in today’s competitive job market.
