Exploring Health Care Opportunities: Over 600 High School Students Gain Insight in Batavia, NY

Hundreds of students gain practical experience in the health care sector.

In Batavia, nearly 600 high school students from Western New York got a head start on their careers in the health care industry. These students, hailing from four counties, had the opportunity to meet with professionals in various health care fields, such as EMS, nursing, holistic medicine, and veterinary technology.

Angela Grouse, Co-Chair of GLOW With Your Hands and Education to Employment Director at the Livingston County Area Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the high demand for health care providers in the Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, and Wyoming County region. She emphasized the importance of exposing young students to the opportunities available in the health care industry.

Students like Ava Matla and Allison Williams shared their experiences at the event. Matla expressed interest in pursuing a career as an x-ray technician after exploring the radiology program, while Williams appreciated the opportunity to learn about nursing tools. Fernando Cacho, who aims to become an emergency room physician, gained hands-on experience at the event and even learned techniques to alleviate sinus issues.
