Chile deports 65 Venezuelans due to criminal activities and immigration violations

In April, the Chilean Public Ministry revealed that the murder of former Venezuelan lieutenant Ronald Ojeda Moreno in March was planned in Venezuela. Investigations pointed to the involvement of the criminal group Trem de Arágua, operating under the protection of dictator Nicolás Maduro. On Friday, the Chilean government expelled 65 Venezuelans from the country, sending them to Caracas on a chartered flight. Of the group, 55 individuals had committed crimes while the rest were expelled for entering the country without regular passports. Luis Eduardo Thayer, the director of Chile’s National Immigration Service, emphasized that while this group represents a minority of foreigners in the country, their actions cause significant damage. The government is determined to address such issues through flights like the one on Friday, as well as others that are being coordinated.
