Fayetteville State University’s Forensic Science Program Receives FEPAC Re-Accreditation for Five-Year Period

Fayetteville State University’s Forensic Science Program, part of the Department of Biological and Forensic Sciences, has been re-accredited by the Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission (FEPAC) for the period of 2024-2029. This recognition highlights the program’s dedication to providing students with a high-quality education in forensic science.

The re-accreditation process involved a comprehensive self-study followed by an on-campus site visit. During the evaluation, facilities were inspected, faculty, students, and administrators were engaged with, and adherence to FEPAC’s rigorous standards was assessed. FSU is proud to be the first and only Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in North Carolina to receive this accreditation, showcasing the program’s success in preparing graduates for successful careers in forensic science or advanced degree programs.

Under the leadership of Forensic Science Director Khalid Lodhi, Ph.D., the program has played a key role in educating the next generation of forensic scientists since its establishment in 2006. The program’s initial accreditation in 2017 set a standard of quality and professionalism that has been consistently upheld. Graduates of the FSU Forensic Science Program are well-prepared to excel as forensic scientists or pursue further studies in related fields like biomedical research, medicine, or law.

With its FEPAC re-accreditation secured, FSU’s Forensic Science Program is positioned to continue its legacy of excellence and prepare students for the challenges of the real world as forensic science professionals. Department chair Danielle Graham, Ph.D., expressed pride in the achievements of students and emphasized the ongoing commitment to maintaining academic excellence and professionalism.
