Former Saxony Headmaster Arrested in Cambodia for Sexual Abuse of School Girls, Marking Victory for Law Enforcement Agencies

Former Saxony school principal apprehended after fleeing to Cambodia

A former headmaster from Saxony who was convicted of serious child sexual abuse has been arrested in Cambodia more than a year after he escaped. The 55-year-old man, who had been sentenced to three years and one month in prison for assaulting a 13-year-old student in the school library, fled abroad after his conviction. He was later arrested in Cambodia after investigations revealed information about his flight bookings and the fact that he had opened a guesthouse there.

The former headmaster of a school in Mücka in the Görlitz district had faced similar accusations by schoolgirls in 2016 and 2018, but those cases were dropped due to a lack of evidence. However, the most recent case led to his conviction. After the verdict, he fled abroad and was eventually caught by local police in Cambodia on March 6th before being transferred to Bangkok, Thailand, where officers from the Saxony State Criminal Police Office and the Görlitz Police Department took custody of him.

The man’s arrest marks a significant victory for law enforcement agencies both in Germany and Cambodia, as it brings an end to his criminal activity and ensures that justice is served for his victims. The investigation into his activities continues, and further charges may be brought against him in the future.
