Iraqi Government Addresses Impact of Recent Rainfall

On Saturday, Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani convened a meeting to assess the impact of recent rains on services and agricultural lands. The gathering was attended by several high-ranking officials, including the Ministers of Interior and Trade, the Mayor of Baghdad, the General Coordinator for Governorate Affairs, the Deputy Director of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, and other ministry representatives.

During the meeting, al-Sudani received updates on how the rainfall had affected various sectors. The main objective of the session was to evaluate accurately and develop plans to address these effects. The government’s challenges in this regard were also discussed due to coinciding harvesting operations and service projects.

The Prime Minister reviewed various aspects related to harvesting, marketing, grain storage operations and water levels in dams. Measures were proposed to utilize rain waves for water storage and usage purposes effectively. The Minister of Interior presented a report detailing how their National Center for Crisis and Disaster Management had responded to these weather conditions.

Al-Sudani emphasized that relief efforts should continue while focusing on enhancing marketing activities for grains given current weather conditions in Iraq. Overall, this meeting aimed at developing strategies to mitigate flood effects and ensure sustainable development in all areas affected by it.
