From Basketball Champions to Smoother Rides: JVI Group Inc. Awarded $4.4 Million Contract for I-83 Resurfacing Project

PennDOT announces that resurfacing of Business Loop 83 will begin on Monday.

JVI Group Inc. of York Springs, Adams County, has been awarded a $4.4 million contract to carry out a resurfacing project on Business Loop 83 near York City. The project will begin on Monday, March 25, and will cover the stretch from the South George Street (Exit 15) ramps at I-83 in York Township to West Drive at WellSpan York Hospital in Spring Garden Township.

The hard work and determination of Central York boys’ basketball paid off as they secured their first state title with a thrilling 53-51 victory over Parkland at Giant Center in Hershey on Saturday, March 23, 2024. The team’s dedication and perseverance culminated in a well-deserved championship win.

During the project, short-term lane closures will take place during nighttime hours to minimize disruption. Lane closures will not be allowed between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m., and at least one lane of traffic will be open when work is being done. Some ramps may face temporary closures at night as well. Motorists are advised to be cautious and alert when driving through the work zone.

The resurfacing project is scheduled to be completed by Sept. 27, providing smoother and safer roads for residents and visitors alike. By subscribing to support local journalism, you can stay informed about important updates and news in your community.
