From Cracked Surfaces to Renewed Sports Courts: Edison, New Jersey’s Revamping Efforts

Township parks will have upgraded sports courts by mid-summer thanks to Edison.

Edison, New Jersey is planning to revamp its sports courts at nine parks by the end of the summer. The township council has initiated a project to repair and upgrade the sports facilities, which includes resurfacing and fixing cracks in the surfaces. Bids for the work are currently being sought and are due by April 30. Once the bids are reviewed, the council will award the contract.

The sports courts that will be refurbished as part of this project include those located at Bernard L. Dwyer Park, Minnie B. Veal/Elder Park, Hale Park, Yelencsics Park, Winter Street Park, Central Avenue Park, Paterniti Park, Thomas Swales Park, and North Eighth Avenue tennis courts. The work involved in this project includes clearing and grading existing features like trees and stumps, removing pavement, repairing cracks in the surface, installing new asphalt base and surface courses
