From Farm to Fork: The Challenges Facing Agricultural Economies Amid Inflation and Dwindling Exports

Concerns are being raised by agricultural economists over the deteriorating farm economy.

A weakening farm economy due to inflation and a decline in U.S. agricultural exports is a major concern for agricultural economists, according to Dr. Ernie Goss with Creighton University. He spoke with RFD-TV’s Suzanne Alexander about the ripple effects of inflation and what is causing the decline in exports, as well as weaker commodity prices. High input costs are standing in the way of farmers intending to shift to more sustainable practices, according to research by McKinsey and Company.

Meanwhile, off the coast of Venezuela, a recent Cannonball Jellyfish bloom is a major concern for the seafood industry that fish those waters. On April 12, 2024, at 12:35 PM, it was reported that the bloom has caused significant damage to marine life and could have long-term consequences for the fishing industry and local communities that rely on it for their livelihoods.
