Hamilton Health Care System Expands Services in Southeast Tennessee with Acquisition of Tennova Healthcare Cleveland

Hamilton Health Care System in Dalton, Georgia has announced its agreement to purchase the largest hospital in Cleveland, Tennessee for $160 million. The move is part of the nonprofit hospital’s plan to expand its services into Southeast Tennessee. The hospital being purchased is the 351-bed Tennova Healthcare Cleveland, along with its related medical offices and subsidiaries. These facilities are currently operated by Community Health Systems under the Tennova name. Community Health Systems has been operating the Cleveland hospital for nearly a decade.

Pending regulatory approvals, the sale of the hospital is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2024. Hamilton Health Care System CEO Jeff Myers expressed his organization’s commitment to the well-being of the region and keeping care local to the communities they serve. He highlighted that Hamilton Health Care System is a not-for-profit entity and one of the few remaining independent health systems in the area.

The acquisition represents a strategic move towards providing enhanced healthcare services to residents of Southeast Tennessee.

“We believe this acquisition will allow us to provide even more comprehensive care options for our patients,” said Myers. “Tennova Healthcare Cleveland has a strong reputation for quality care, and we look forward to bringing their expertise and resources under our umbrella.”

The sale will enable Hamilton Health Care System to expand its service offerings in Southeast Tennessee, where it already operates several other hospitals and clinics.

According to Myers, this acquisition aligns with Hamilton Health Care System’s mission of improving lives through healthcare excellence and innovation. With Tennova Healthcare Cleveland on board, he believes that they can continue to provide exceptional care that meets the needs of their patients.
